Here are some of the actions taken by the team to promote practices based on sustainable development.

 
 

Corporate social responsibility

With the well-being of your eyes, the planet, and the people around us at heart, the members of the Uvée team undertook a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative in 2022 to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The CSR policy was adopted in 2023, in collaboration with Karine Casault, a sustainable development and communications expert certified by the Ecoleader Fund, from the communications and business strategy firm nacelles&co.

 
 
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) were adopted in 2015 by all UN member countries to guide development actions, ensuring a future where no one is left behind. They are pillars for any organization that wants to achieve sustainable and healthy development, both socially and environmentally.
 

Environmental commitment

 

    • Careful selection of our suppliers through an internal audit that evaluates each partner's commitment. To see the results, click here

    • Employee involvement and implementation of sustainable habits within the team

    • Optimized clinic space, with fewer display frames.

    • Promotion of active transportation for customers and employees.

    • Manufacture of ophthalmic lenses at Nikon, located a few blocks from the clinic.

    • Annual carbon offset for emissions related to transportation and product importation.

    • Selection of local suppliers whenever possible.

    • Prioritization of repair and replacement of parts in the event of frame breakage

    • Reuse of frames encouraged whenever possible

    • Use of reusable materials and predominantly eco-friendly products in the cleaning and disinfection of the clinic

    • Participation in the City of Montreal's composting program

    • Educating patients on best practices for handling and caring for their eyeglasses to ensure the durability of our products

    • Free frame maintenance service

 

Social commitment

 

    • Consultation mechanisms and participatory decision-making within the team

    • Creation of a pleasant and safe working environment

    • Annual health budget offered to employees

    • Pilot project for access to eye care in partnership with community organizations in the St-Michel neighborhood (under development)
