Second Vue : an eco-friendly project to recycle your frames at Uvée ♻️

At Uvée Optometry Clinic, we believe that every action counts when it comes to sustainability and social responsibility. With this in mind, SECONDE VUE was born, an eco-friendly project that aims to give eyeglass frames a second life while reducing our environmental impact. The project of our colleague Naomie, a member of the Uvée team, SECONDE VUE, transforms a simple gesture—donating your old glasses—into concrete action for the planet.

Give your glasses a second life: how does it work?

Changing your glasses doesn't necessarily mean throwing away your old ones. Thanks to our SECONDE VUE program, your unused frames can have a new future, while contributing to a more sustainable approach to optical consumption.

Step 1: Gather your old glasses

Before your next appointment, take the time to find your old frames. They must be:

  • complete;

  • still in good overall condition;

  • functional and safe for a future user.

Even if you have doubts, bring them in: we will take care of the evaluation.

Step 2: Drop-off at the clinic

Bring your glasses directly to the clinic.

Our team will collect them and sort them according to their condition. Each frame is carefully examined to determine whether it can be reused or not.

Step 3: Cleaning and refurbishment

Frames deemed reusable are:

  • thoroughly cleaned;

  • adjusted if necessary;

  • refurbished.

This work extends their life cycle and reduces waste production related to optical frames.

Step 4: A frame ready for a Seconde Vue

Once refurbished, frames can be reused as part of the SECONDE VUE program, offering a more responsible and sustainable alternative to the production of new frames.

Step 5: An advantage for you

To encourage this eco-friendly initiative, you will receive a 5% discount on your next order of frames and lenses when you bring in your old glasses. A simple gesture that combines:

  • environmental commitment;

  • support for a local initiative;

  • real savings.

What about frames that cannot be reused?

Some frames are too damaged to be put back into circulation. For these, the Uvée team is actively researching to collaborate in order to:

  • recycle materials whenever possible;

  • adopt environmentally friendly disposal solutions;

  • minimize landfill waste.
